THE FOLLOWING IS A MESSAGE ORIGINALLY SENT BY THE STATEN ISLAND CHAMBER OF COMMERCE:
We're sad to report that Governor Cuomo has just announced that Indoor Dining will be paused again in NYC, starting this Monday, December 14. "Obviously, outdoor would continue under this scenario, and outdoor is now permanent," Mayor de Blasio had said. "A lot of these restaurants weatherize, so it can work even in colder months takeout and delivery will continue." We will continue to provide updates as they become available.
In case you missed it: Governor Cuomo announced this week that Staten Island accounts for 25% of all second-wave COVID deaths in NYC, despite Staten Island accounting for only 5% of the City's population. The death rate on Staten Island is 40% higher than all other boroughs, according to Cuomo. Some sections, such as Lighthouse Hill, Midland Beach, New Dorp and Elm Park have an infection rate of 10%, according to city data. As we enjoy the holiday season, please continue to do your part to stop the spread: social distance, wear a mask, and avoid unnecessary gatherings.
